Valhalla is an independently owned ‘Free house’.
What this means in layman’s terms is we can serve any products we want.
The discerning drinker should find a really unique and interesting choice at Valhalla and we are a world away from your typical run of the mill pub in terms of our selection.

– Beer, Cider & Cask –

At Valhalla we have 8 keg taps and 4 cask hand pulls. From sours to stouts, lagers to lambics and ciders to cask ales you are sure to find something to tempt you. Our line up is constantly changing however we have a few main staples that always remain on.

Valhalla York also has 2 Cask ales that are produced just for us. No fakery here, our beers really are unique. Valhalla Pale Ale and our Odin’s Judgement Dark Amber Ale are brewed in partnership with Half Moon Brewery. Our working with Half Moon is shared out of our equal passion for uncompromising quality at a fair price. They’re also great folk and a pleasure to work with!

Established in 2013 by Tony and Jackie Rogers the brewery operates from an old Blacksmiths Forge, in Elllerton near York. They produce fantastic award-winning ales which are hand crafted in true artisan style.

– Mead –

Widely regarded as “The Drink of the Gods”, Valhalla just wouldn’t be right unless we served mead. It’s not just a customary thing, mead is a fantastic drink and we urge you to try it.

At Valhalla we like to keep a well-stocked and varied selection. There is always a minimum of half a dozen meads for you to try from traditional honey mead, to fruit flavoured and, again, our own Valhalla Mead which has sunflower notes and is made just for us by the Lancashire Mead Company – some of the best mead makers in the business.

– Spirits & Wine –

Valhalla stocks some of the finest artisan spirits in the land. We stock the weird and wonderful and the finest locally produced. Again in our pursuit of being a little different you are bound to find something at Valhalla that you just won’t find elsewhere in our great City.

Our wine list is ever evolving and changing. We always keep a well-stocked wine cellar and work with some of the best local suppliers to ensure that our wine is of excellent quality.

– Hot Drinks –

At Valhalla we not only pride ourselves on a well-stocked bar but we are also love our coffee. On a chilled day what better way to spend the time than to surround yourself with good folk and get cosy with a good brew?.. Preferably whilst listening to some mellow classic rock. We take our coffee so seriously in fact that we have our own roast. Valhalla coffee is strong, bold and earthy. We also do a range of hot chocolates (boozy for the grown ups, and creamy and marshmallowy for the young). If you want a true simplistic treat we never, ever, run out of Yorkshire Tea.
